Which two branches of monsoon approach the landmass of India?
Answers
b.Bay of bengal Branch
"Arabian Sea Branch and Bay of Bengal Branch"
Northeast monsoon and Southwest monsoon are the two monsoons in India. These arise from the Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea.
The names of these branches are indicative of the tropical seas from which these pulsating winds originate. In June when they reach the south Peninsula, it splits and passes into the Arabian Sea, To Mumbai and then Saurashtra-Kuchchh and the central parts of the country.
The Bay of Bengal branch passes over Assam and then is deflected by the mountains to the west over the Gangetic plains to Delhi.
These branches merge over the northwestern Gangetic plains and then bring copious amounts of rainfall in Western Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and eastern Rajasthan around the beginning of July. Around mid-July, the monsoons reach Himachal Pradesh and the whole of India.
