Crops in Laterite – Lateritic Soils. Laterite soils lack fertility due to intensive leaching. When manured and irrigated, some laterites are suitable for growingplantation crops like tea, coffee, rubber, cinchona, coconut, arecanut, etc. In some areas, these soils support grazing grounds and scrub forests.

Black soils are most suitable for the cotton crop. In addition to cotton, these soils are also suitable for the cultivation of crops like groundnut, chillies, tobacco and pulses. Laterite soils suits to plantation crops like tea, coffee, rubber and chinchona.
