Thanks for the question!
It is definitely a very interesting question to solve and do some brainstorming.

The chemical formula of Ammonia is NH3 which clearly indicates 3 hydrogen atoms bonded to 1 nitrogen atom. It is a covalent compound as both nitrogen and hydrogen are non-metallic so there is no chance of donating the electron to fulfill the criteria of being an ionic compound.
Salicylic Acid ( C7H6O3) is a beta hydroxy acid with intramolecular hydrogen bonding which occurs when two functional groups of a molecule can form hydrogen bonds with each other.

Hope it helps and solves your query!!

Covalent bonding occurs in ammonia (NH₃). In ammonia, the 1 nitrogen bond is capable of forming 3 covalent bond and each hydrogen atom forms a single covalent bond. So, 3 pairs of electrons are shared in 1 molecule of ammonia (NH₃).
The atoms in Salicyclic acid are held by intramolecular hydrogen bonding (IMHB) which gives it the acidic characteristic due to deprotonation resulting in the formation of hydrogen bond between the hydrogen of the alcohol and oxygen of the carboxylate group.
