A. Fire extinguishers with a Class C rating are suitable for fires in “live” electrical equipment. Both monoammonium phosphate and sodium bicarbonate are commonly used to fight this type of fire because of their nonconductive properties.

Billie. Fires that occur in electrical equipment or in equipment close to electric circuits preclude the use of water spray or foam type extinguishers. Such fires are extinguished by employing some insulating agent like sand, carbon tetra-chloride or carbon dioxide or halon type fire extinguishers.

D. Most of these extinguishers contain either water or carbon dioxide (CO2) extinguishing agents. A small number of multi-purpose, dry chemical extinguishers are also available. Upon special request, extinguishers designed for combustible metal fire fighting have been installed in laboratories.
