Explanation:

The democratic form of government is divided into the parliamentary and the presidential form of government. India chose the parliamentary form of government primarily because constitutional authority was heavily influenced by the British system. Another reason the founding father saw was that the parliamentary model will only serve to accommodate the diverse and diverse groups in our population. The strict separation of powers in the presidential system would lead to conflicts between the two branches, the executive and the legislature, which our newly independent state can do.

Features of the parliamentary system:

1. The close relationship between the legislature and the executive.

2. The executive body is responsible to the legislature.

3. Dual executive.

4. Secrecy of procedure.

5. The leadership of the prime minister.

6. Bicameral legislature.

7. No fixed tenure.

Note: In the Parliamentary form of government there are two executives i.e. the President and the Prime Minister(PM). The head of the country is the President but this position is only ceremonial as the real head of the country is the Prime Minister. Therefore, the Prime Minister is the real executive in this form of government. In the Presidential form of government, there is only one executive i.e. the President, and all the powers are vested in him/her.
