Hi mate.....

Before 1980, Nepal had a monarchy.

Nepal's governmental history revolved around several monarchies, some absolute while others were oligarchic, throughout. In late 1950, a revolution was carried out against the monarchy, and the result was a new constitution in 1959, which intended on establishing a constitutional monarchy. However, in late 1960, King Mahendra disbanded the legislative body, banned political parties, and jailed leaders of the political parties. By 1962, the constitution was disbanded, and an absolute monarchy was reestablished in Nepal. After a referendum in late 1979, King Birendra decided to allow a legislative election, and Nepal began to transition toward a constitutional monarchy, which was confirmed in a new constitution in 1990.
