Hello user

Alkane only show structural (positional and chain ) isomerism.

Well this is due to the fact that the alkane are not specified to show Stereiosmees because of not able to for 3 d figs.

Hope this works

Answer:

• In chemistry, isomers are molecules or polyatomic ions with identical molecular formulas — that is, same number of atoms of each element — but distinct arrangements of atoms in space. Isomers do not necessarily share similar chemical or physical properties. Isomerism is existence or possibility of isomers.

• Two main forms of isomerism are –

1) Structural isomerism or Constitutional isomerism : In which bonds between the atoms differ.

2) Stereo isomerism or Spatial isomerism : In which the bonds are the same but the relative positions of the atoms differ.

• Alkane show only Structural Isomerism i.e. Chain isomerism & Position isomerism.
