Mixtures of two or more miscible liquids whose difference in boiling point is more than 25°C is separated by distillation method. Some mixtures like Alcohol annd water can be seperated using this method.
But when difference of boiling point of two miscible liquid is less than 25°C then Fraction Distillation method is used.
This method is used to separate crude oil mixtures, air mixture and other mixture who difference of boiling point of constituents are less than 25°C.
How do both methods differ?
Only fractional distillation column is special added in flask. This makes all difference in two separation techniques.
