  • Saprophytic nutrition occurs in those plants that feed on dead and decaying organisms. They release their digestive juices outside on the food material which they want to consume. These digestive juices breakdown the material into simple form which they consume. Eg fungi, mushroom.

  • Parasitic nutrition occurs in some plants which depends on host plant for food. Some are partial parasite that can make their own food but depend on other plants for water and minerals eg Mistletoe. Other parasitic plants are cuscuta, rafflesia.

↦ Those plants that live on or inside the other living organism's body are called \green{\bf{parasitic}} plants.

  • For example- cascuta or amarbel.

Those plants that obtain their nutrition from dead or decaying matter are called \orange{\bf{saprophtyic}} plants.

  • For example- Indian pipe and mushroom.
