Intially , Plastids are the kitchen of the cell as per biology !!

Characteristics :

  • Found only in plant cells
  • They're double - membrane bound
  • They have their own DNA and ribosomes
  • They're involved in the synthesis and storage of food
  • They're semi - autonomous
  • There are three types of Plastids which are classified based on the pigment present inside them :
  1. Chloroplasts : Green Pigment is present which is called chlorophyll
  2. Chromoplasts : Contain Carotinoide and Xanthophyll , they impart colours to flowers to attract pollinators
  3. Leucoplasts : They are colourless and store food in the form if carbohydrates , fats and proteins .
