Parallel root system is found in the leaves of the monocot plants. The seed of a monocot plant consists of one cotyledon and the roots of such plants can develop either from a main radicle which is one large taproot with many small secondary lateral roots growing out of it, or can be a fibrous mass of roots that arise from the nodes in the stem.

Prop roots are found in monocot plants and are responsible for the transportation of additional nutrients and water to the stem.
If the roots undergo secondary growth and become woody, they give support to the plants and prevent trunks from either breaking or sagging.
