Simple Squamous Epithilium. This tissue consists of thin flat, tile like polygonal or hexagonal cells with a centrally located oval or spherical nucleus. Each cell has irregular boundaries. The cells are arranged like tiles on a floor, so, it is also known as pavement epithelium.

They are having disc like structure.
The nucleus is rounded, bulging and centrally located.
They form a structure as that of a floor tile .
The squamous epithelium are of two types :
★ Simple Squamous tissue
★ Stratified Squamous tissue

They form the lining of nose, pericardial cavity, blood vessels, lung alveoli, coelomic cavity etc .
