Cashew is formed in laterite soil or in sandy soil. They are formed in an elevation of around 600m – 700m covering wastelands and less fertile areas. The sandy soils aids in cashew growth and yields high quality nuts in coastal sands.

Clay-based solids with low temperature and poor drainage conditions are not suitable for the crops. Rane of rainfall must be within a range of 600- 4500mm  annually.
