During the Industrial revolution, the city planners adopted two basic forms of transportation technology.
Though both the forms were derivations of railroad, but by applying railroad technology to a city landscape great transportation ease was achieved.
The first derivation was elevated railways which were upon the streets and on elevated platforms.
The second derivation was the railroad in the underground tunnels.
