Sometimes people make a small mistake one time. It is very common now for comments about that mistake for the commentators to call for the firing of that person immediately before the accusation has been shown to be true, and before any assessment of the seriousness of the accusation has been made. This is unfortunate. People who make most mistakes deserve a second chance, and should not be immediately fired, or jailed. Of course, some mistakes are serious enough for such remedies to be taken. But for many errors, the person should be given a second chance, possibly after a discussion and/or remedial education session.
