Different types of Coal are-

1️⃣ Peat Coal:

Decaying plants in swamps produce Peat Coal. Has low Carbon, high moisture contents and low heating capacity.

2️⃣Lignite Coal:

Low grade brown coal, soft with high moisture content.

3️⃣Bituminous Coal:

Buried deep and subjected to increased temperature. Most popular in commercial use.

4️⃣Anthracite Coal:

Highest quality hard coal.

Coal is formed from the decomposition of vegetable and plant matter under high pressure and high temperature 300 million years ago under the Earth. Therefore it is called as Fossil Fuel.

Bituminous: In India mostly Bituminous coal is present in regions of W.B, Jharkhand and Orissa. They have carbon content varying from 40–80% and has high calorific value owing to which it produces coke which is used in steel industry.
