The correct answer is onion.

It is tough to say that when the onion came into being. They were cultivated in ancient Egypt, and then finally arrived in Rome, and became familiar with the term onion, originated from the Latin word, UNIO that means large pearl. It became unyon in middle English. However, the status of the onion rose after the French onion soup made famous by the former King of Poland.
