Infrared rays of the sun are perceived by the skin as heat.

• The solar radiation brings three main types of rays to our planet -

1) UV rays.

2) Infrared rays.

3) Visible light rays.

• Now,UV rays are mostly blocked before reaching to us because it is harmful.

• And, visible light rays don't have any kind of heating capabilities.

• So, it's obvious that the heat coming from the sun is the infrared rays of the solar radiation which is also absorbed by our skin.

Infrared rays are perceived as heat rays by the skin.

Explanation:

  • Infrared rays are perceived as heat rays by the skin.
  • Infrared rays are electromagnetic radiations and the rays coming from the sun are infrared radiations.
  • The wavelength of infrared radiation is longer than the visible rays.
  • Their range is from 400-700 nm.
  • Thus these rays are invisible and can not be seen by the naked human eye but we feel them as heat.
