Prism:-

A prism is a transparent medium bonded by 5 plane surface with triangular cross section .

___________________________________

Two opposite parallel surface of prism are identical triangle while the other three are rectangular and incident to each other .

The splitting of colour from the prism are depending on :-

  1. Wavelengths of colours.
  2. Value of μ being different for different colours of light.

___________________________________

Factors affecting the angle of prism ;-

  1. the angle of incidence,
  2. the angle of prism,
  3. the colour of wavelength of light used,
  4. the material of prism,

___________________________________

Some extra information about prism:-

  1. The two refraction surface of the prism are not parallel to each other , but they are incident or each other makes an angle A called the angle of prism.
  2. In a ray diagram of prism is shown only by principle ABC.
