Which will have more pressure at its base, water stored in a cylinder of radius r=1m, height =5m, or r= 0.5 m and height =3 . explain giving reasons

Pressure will be more at the base of 2nd cylinder as its surface area of base is
π(0.5)(0.5)=π/4 m^2
In case of 1st cylinder surface area of base is π(1)(1)= π m^2

Pressure is inversely proportional to surface area. Less the area, more the pressure.

Hence the cylinder with less base surface area will have more pressure.

Please note that here height is not considered as we are talking about the relation of pressure with base area
