a. The Arabian sea branch of the south west monsoon accounts for rainfall in the Malabar coast.Since it is first region to hit by south west monsoon , malabar coast receives heavy rainfall in the months of June and July.

Coromandal coast receives rainfall from the north east monsoon winds in the months of November and December.With the shift of low pressure centre to the Bay of Bengal in early November, cyclonic depressions originating over the Andaman Sea move over the Eastern Coast. The Coromandel coast receives bulk of its rainfall from the retreating monsoons.
