the Southwest monsoon winds bring rainfall in Western Ghats the Deccan Plateau if relative dry in the rain fall season because the Western Ghats are higher and continuous thus stops heavy moisture Laden winds to enter in in Central part of India as we know that due to Western Ghat the Southwest monsoon breaks into two parts the Arabian Sea branch and the Bay of Bengal branch the Arabian Sea branch further have three parts the third part move parallel to the Aravali Hills of the Rajasthan and gifts little rainfall in Punjab and Rajasthan

Answer:

South Westerly winds bring rainfall to Western ghats during monsoon....while places like Punjab and Rajasthan recieve less rainfall. This is because South Westerly winds of Arabian sea branch gives rainfall to Maharastra and that of bay of Bengal branch gives rainfall to the eastern ghats keeping the north Indian plains of India relatively dry.....hope it helps
