Which would require a greater force----accelerating a 1 kg mass at 10

metres per second squared or a 2 kg mass at 4 metres per second

By second law of motion we have the formula as

Force = mass × acceleration

Given Force 1=1×10=10 Newton

Given Force 2=2×4=8 Newton

Hence, force 1 is greater than force 2.

SI unit of force is Newton. 1kg=nearly9.8N
