"India as a country is one of the largest producer of the sugarcane, however, in the recent time, there have been lots of climatic and environmental changes pertaining to green house effect and global warming along with high pollution level which is badly and remarkably affecting the sugarcane cultivation in the sugarcane producing area.

As all this tends to disturb the ideal temperature, soil texture, rainfall (much needed pre-requisite), and the moisture content. A very high temperature disturbing the required balance also affects the sucrose level in the sugarcane.

All this has to be added as a loss to the high cost of production and input associated with the crop of sugarcane. On the other hand, there have been some positive changes as well for example, increase in the area under high yielding variety crop of sugarcane and adequate amount of rainfall during the season in some states like Maharashtra, followed by good water availability in the reservoirs."
