Answer:

3.33

Explanation:

Given While determining the density of a solid sphere a student noted down the following readings . Mass of sphere 30 gram. Initial level of water without sphere 63 ml . Reading of water level while measuring cylinder with sphere is 72 ml. On the basis of above observation what's the density of the sphere .

We know that density of water = 1 g / cm^3

Initial reading of water level = 63 ml

Final reading = 72 ml

So increase in water level = 72 – 63 = 9 ml

We know that 1 ml = 1 mg

So volume of 9 ml of water = mass / density

                                          = 9 g / 1 g/cm^3

                                    = 9 cm^3

Now mass of sphere = 30 g

Volume occupied by sphere in water = 9 cm^3

So density of sphere = mass / volume

                                = 30 g / 9 cm^3

                           = 3.33 g/cm^3
