while diluting acid ,why is it recommended that the acids should be added to water and not water to the acids?

Hey,

This is because:-

-» The reaction is highly exothermic.

-» If we add water to the acid, then large amount of heat is produced which may splash up.

-» Hence, to avoid accidents and injury, it recommended that the acid should be added to water and not water to the acid.

It is recommended that the acid should be added to water not water to the acids , because while adding water to the acids it can be highly exothermic, it will produce more and more energy which can exploit, which can cause damage.
