due to inertia of motion

which gives us momentum in the direction of motion of bus.

so when we get down without any velocity

then our feet stop instantly because of friction and due to torque our body rotates forward - downward and we fall.

and when we run, we make our velocity equal to the velocity of bus

then we cancel out this effect

i.e. our relative velocity is zero

and we stop slowly by our own efforts.
