In initial state bus is moving and u are also moving , u have a velocity , so we can say u have inertia of Motion .Now suppose You don't run and just step down on the road from the bus
Let's examine the various body parts
Your Lower body will come in contact with the ground and the ground will exert frictional force hence changing the state of motion to Rest ( thus removing the inertia of motion)
But Your upper body still has that inertia of motion so it will try to go forward and hence ur upper body will trip .

Answer:
A passenger getting down from a moving bus, falls in the direction of the motion of the bus. This is because his feet come to rest on touching the ground and the remaining body continues to move due to inertia of motion
