Sorpotel, a dish of Portuguese origin is a red meat curry that is amazingly tangy and spicy, cooked in the Konkan region of India. Goan Sorpotel is generally made using pork, but sometimes it includes beef, mutton or chicken too.

The meat is marinated in vinegar and chillies and is allowed to blend in their flavours for a considerable amount of time. Sorpotel is served with steamed rice cake, bread, plain rice or along with poached eggs for breakfast.

It is very popular among the households of Goa and food lovers who have had this dish at least once. Sorpotel is often made in huge quantities for festivals, weddings and birthday parties.
