While lifting a 10 kg block vertically with a constant velocity, it
is kept pressed against a wall by a horizontal force of 49 N.
Coefficient of friction between the block and the wall is 0.2.
Find the upward force.

Frictional force = 0.2×49 =9.8, acting in downward direction.

Also , weight of block i.e 10×9.8= 98N acts downward

& block is moving with constant velocity. Therefore, net force is zero.

So, required vertical force = 98+9.8 = 107.8
