while lifting the bucket of water from the well we feel that the bucket becomes heavier above the surface of water.

this happens because when the bucket is in the water it experiences buoyant force of the water which pushes the bucket upwards. at this time it is easy to lift the bucket. but when the bucket is above the surface of the water it no longer experiences the buoyant force hence the bucket becomes heavier
