While measuring voltage does current flow through the voltmeter?

Ideally, the resistance of a voltmeter is infinity. So while measuring voltage, current should not flow through the voltmeter.
In real cases, making resistance infinity is not possible. So a tiny amount of current flows through voltmeter.

Voltmeter basically is a current controlled device. So for its proper operation it has to draw some current proportional to the voltage across it. The deflection produced is directly proportional to the delfecting torque which in turn ultimately depends on the amount of current.Feb 9
