Guard cell

  • The role of guard cell is to controlling the gas exchange of the plant.
  • It contain chloroplast thus, it can involved in the process of  photosynthesis.
  • The inner wall of the guard cell is thicker than its outer wall.
  • It is found in the epidermis of leaves, stems but not in roots.
  • It can be differentiated from epidermal cell.

Epidermal Cell

  • The role of epidermal cell is to provide a protection to the plant from the external environment.
  • It do not contain chloroplast .
  • The outer wall of the epidermal cell is thicker than its inner wall.
  • It is found in epidermis of leaves, stems and roots.
  • It can be differentiated from protoderm.
