while observing yeast cells in sugar solution under microscope,Rama observed a colony of yeasts was formed very rapidly . explain why and how this happened

Reason for rapid colony formation is given below -

Yeast or Saccharomyces cerevisiae is the fungi generally used for fermentation. It uses sugar for metabolism.

Through anaerobic process, glucose is converted into pyruvate producing ATP.

Pyruvate thus produced is fermented to form ethanol or respired to form carbon dioxide and water.

Thus, yeast actively produces energy in presence of glucose and grows actively and hence divides rapidly by budding.
