While performing the experiment with raisins to determine the percentage of water absorbed by them, the percentage of water absorbed by raisins is 60%

1. Let us assume the initial weight of water to be W1, initial weight of raisins to be w1, final weight of water to be W2 and final weight of raisins to be w2.

2. Then, the percentage of water absorbed by raisins = ((change in weight of raisins)/ (change in weight of water)) ×100

=((w2-w1)/(W2-W1))×100

=((8-5)/(40-35))×100 = 60%
