While preparing dil.H2SO4 acid from concern.h2so4 in lab it is added slowly to water with constant stirring . Why?

H2SO4 is a strong acid if we add water to it then it will burst because it is highly exothermic reaction. One thing to remember is that we should add only acid in water and not water in acid.
