Traffic lights are installed on roads and road intersections, for signalling purpose and thereby avoid traffic accidents. Traffic lights are Light Emitting Diodes (LED) with universally accepted light colours, to provide maximum visibility. Green light signals ‘Ok to proceed’, amber light signals ‘the traffic light is about to change’ and red signals ‘halt’.
How these lights alternate to allow safe and smooth passage of traffic, differs from country to country.
