While selling an electric fan, a dealer gives a discounto 5 % . If he gives a discount of 8 % , he earns Rs.36 less as profit. The marked price of the fan is:

according to condition

a) after giving 5% discount on 100 rupees the selling price would be = 95 rupees ; therefore SP 1 = 95 rupees .

b) similarly after giving 8% discount on 100 rupees the selling price would be = 92 rupees ; therefore SP 2 = 92 rupees

Now ⇒ difference in selling price = 95 -92 = 3 units.

It is given that after giving discount of 8% seller earn 36 rupees less as profit ;

From unitary method :3 units = 36 rupees

                    therefore :  1 unit = 12 rupees

according to our assumption = 100 units price would be = 100*12 = 1200

Answer = marked price is 1200 rupees .
