While using iodine in the laboratory some drops fell on my socks amd some on my teacher's saree the drops of iodine on the saree turned blue black while the colour did not change on the socks what can be the possible reason

iodine changes its colour in the presence of starch.
it did not change its colour because socks are made of wool
