while washing clothes in washing machine the clothes are agitated in soap solution for some time why is this agiation necessary for washing clothes

Because micelles takes time to form colloidal solution..
tulip1: hydrocarbons chain is dust or water loving, they arrange towards the dirt and form colloidal particle which dissolves the dirt
