Answer: There are always three types of sources- primary, secondary and tertiary. While gathering info about any of the periods, we should always keeps these three in mind.

Explanation:

Primary- Primary sources are firsthand documents that provide direct evidence on your topic.  A primary source is most often created during the time the events occurred, such as newspaper articles from the period, diplomatic records, original research reports and notes, diaries, letters etc. They could also be the artefacts used/ made during the time.

Secondary- Secondary Sources are interpretations and evaluations of primary sources. Secondary sources are not evidence, but rather commentary on and discussion of what happened. Example- Biographies, essays, commentaries.

If we write an article about any period or incident that happened, it will turn to a secondary source of info.

Tertiary- A tertiary source presents summaries or condensed versions of materials, usually with references back to the primary and/or secondary sources. You may have seen referneces being made in wikipedia articles when you read about something, especially something related to history. This is an example of tertiary source. other examples- Handbooks, encyclopedias etc.

Now, all these are important for you because the primary account gives you first hand experience about what happened. The secondary one gives you an overview of the topic, it expands your viewpoint on the topic. The tertiary one gives you a lot of info at once, in one place, easily, and quickly.

To understand history, we must refer to all these to get a clear view of everything that happened.

Hope this helps!
