Once there lived a stag in a forest. He had very beautiful horns on his head. One day while he was drinking water in a clear pool of water he saw his full image in the water. He was very happy and full of pride on seeing his horns. They were really very glorious. Next his eyes fell on his black legs. They were very ugly and thin. He was very sorry to have such thin and ugly legs. He hated them the most.
Now, by chance he heard the sound of the horns of the hunters and their hounds. He was alarmed and ran to a place of safety but the hunter-dogs saw him and gave him a tough chase to catch him but the black thin legs of the stag carried him on such a terrific speed that he was flying as wind and was soon out of the sight of hounds. As ill luck would have it, he was by chance caught in wild thick bushes by his golden beautiful horns. He tried his hard to free himself but could not. He was very sorry for his horns now. It was because of them that he was entangled in the bushes. He was proud now of his black ugly legs who had really saved him from the danger. The hounds were still on his track. They found him there and caught him and tore him to pieces. The poor stag was killed instantly.
The poor creature could not understand the mysteries of God. His thin legs were very helpful to him and his fine glorious horns became the cause of his death.
Moral: All that glitters is not gold.
