In the rule of Khalji dynasty, Alāʾ ud-Dīn Khaljī was the second emperor, his rule is considered as greatest. In the history of the dynastic rule in India, he was the first ruler who made land revenue reforms.  For the assessment of land, he introduced the scientific method of measurement (paimaish) of land. He imposed various taxes on Jagirdars, Ulemas, and on the Sardars. In order to get rid the problem of bribery he paid a high salary to his officers. For the collection of the revenue from the peasantry, he created a post called “Mustakhraj”. Alauddin even took hard measures to deal with corrupt revenue officials.
