It was the last person means bussiness man who always wait for the gain or for profit . While he saw other five people not to burn the log of wood so he hold his log of wood back because he is always ready for gain

The last and the sixth man of the. "forlorn group" was an opportunist. He expected only opportunity and did nothing but he want to gain.

"giving only to those who gave was how he played the game" this means that he is so selfish and if someone gives him something only he would return back. He was the only one different from all other five people because they all were discrimination people on basis of color,religon, caste. He was only selfish. Therefore he is an opportunist.
