Two biologists, Matthias Scheiden and Theodor Schwann proposed the cell theory in 1838. The cell theory tells us that
1.All the plants and animals are made up of cell.
2.Cell is the Fundamental and basic unit of life.
The cell theory was further expanded by Virchow, adding one more point that all the cells arise from pre-existing cells.

Explanation:

Matthias Jakob Schleiden was a German botanist and co-founder of cell theory, along with Theodor Schwann and Rudolf Virchow.

All living organisms are composed of one or more cells. The cell is the basic unit of structure and organization in organisms. Cells arise from pre-existing cells.
