Who appoints deputy chairman of planning commission?

Hello !

Since the prime minister happens to be the ex-officio chairperson of Planning Commission of India, the deputy chairperson is appointed by the central cabinet. The last deputy chairman of Planning Commission was Mr Montek Singh Ahluwalia.
