The ‘Governor of state’ is appointed by the ‘President of India’ on the advice of the ‘Central Government’.
Governor was not considered to be under the Central Government, recognizing it as an independent constitutional post.
In addition, two other traditions are followed in the selection of the Governor.
- A person from another state is appointed as Governor, so that he is free from local politics
- The appointment of the Governor requires that the President consult the Chief Minister of the state, so that the constitutional system in the state remains identical.
