Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore and Mahatma Gandhi two leading personalities of that time had great attachment to each other and that is why Rabindranath Tagore was the first person to refer Gandhi as Mahatma Gandhi also called him Gurudev both of them met for the first time in 1915 at Santiniketan , present west bengal .
