Devangas of Karnataka are both Lingayat and non-Lingayat, and the latter worship Goddess Chowdeshwari; Chowdeshwari temples found all over South Karnataka. Devangas of Tamilnadu are mostly non-Lingayat but there is a separate community of Veerasaiva Chettiars who are also in the weaving business in Kanchi.
