Helen had the constant company of Martha Washington, the cook's daughter and belle, who had been a hunter they understood Helen's needs totally.it gave Helen great pleasure to dominate them . she was strong, active in indifferent and generally had her own way . both her companions helped her . she was most happy kneading dough balls, making ice cream, grinding coffee and feeding the hands and turkeys.
